Podcasts:
I have been listening to the HotSpot podcast for a couple of months now on and off. It is a podcast available on gamespot.com. The podcast is made by workers from gamespot. The podcast comes out once a week to discuss the updates in the gaming community. They have no affiliation to particular gaming companies so they discuss all of the major upcoming games and also games that people might not know about. There are ont many reviews on the podcast but mostly comments, yet these comments don say weather HotSpot is a good podcast or not. The comments are arguments about the topics on the podcast's.
I only listen to one podcast so the second one I had to look for at i tunes. since i like the office I decided to look for a podcast by one of the office characters Dwight Shrewt. I know he has a blog in which he is very funny so i decided to look for a podcast. Instead all I found was a podcast by Matt Sommer about the show itself. This is completely opposite to the HotSpot one as in it does not captivate my interest at all, which surprised me because people gave it a 4 and a half star rating.
I did enjoy looking for podcasts but in the end it was not worth it, podcasts are great for when you are doing frivolous activities such as driving or washing dishes, but since i have no need for any such activities they become a waste of time. I listen to one already and that is about an hour and a half every week. Thus i do not believe i shall continue to search for new podcasts, if someday i stumble upon a good one or find myself with more free time then I shall subscribe to it.
Podcast's are a better way of relaying information then newspapers and magazines because people can walk around listening to them. That way there is no problem of being distracted or holding something in your hands. It is even easier then blogging because most people can relay information.
Audio books are a great way for people to "read" books. The truth is an audio book cannot replace the truth and feeling that a book provides but another truth is that the youth of today is "plugged". They are born with i-phones and blackberry's that they don't know the true value of a book. Kids will not grow up reading books anymore, just hearing them, it doesn't matter which is better the truth is most of the youth will not read books anymore.
Video Podcasts:
The first audio podcast I watched was entitled "Things they don't want you to know". It is about superstitions that happened in the past. Such as the new England vampire panic where they think a vampire converted a bunch of villagers into blood thirsty monsters. It was not very interesting at all and did not captivate my interest at all.
The second vidcast was Machinima, it is also a gamer one (I decided to make the vidcast and podcast similar to facilitate comparing them). This vidcast is for gamers to see the newest trailers for games, that way they can see beforehand what to expect in the game. This vidcast also helps people see weather they should buy the game or not, they can make their own decision about the game based on what they thought about the trailer.
Just as with the podcasts although I did enjoy it but i do not believe I will make a habit of watching them. I will however continue to watch Machinima since it is a good way to stay up to date on the new games coming soon. But vidcasts require time which I do not really have, i would much rather watch a movie or hang out with my friends during my free time then watch vidcasts.
I believe vidcasts are the best way so far to get information across to the public, unlike podcasts in vidcasts people can also see the news. Most people have at least access to a computer but soon everyone will, once that happens the world will be completely digital. Once the world is fully digital there will be no need for TV's or magazines even, everything will be accessible from your computer.
Youtube has had a boom in success ever since it came out. The reasons are vast and simple, anyone can post anything they like in youtube. Since that is the case people have begun making home videos, everyone wants a chance to be famous no matter what its for. People also use it for news, there are a bunch of people who made news vidcasts and posted them on youtube, this way you can find out anything you want just from youtube. The main reason youtube flourished though is plain and simple, boredom. Whenever people are bored they go on youtube and just watch random videos to laugh and kill time.
One of the examples of a video to watch when bored is this one:

Internet Activity Number 2
There are three different ways that can be used to subscribe to website RSS feeds:
1. Go to the actual website you wish to subscribe to and click the RSS picture. It will take you to a separate page asking weather you want to add it to Google homepage or Google reader.
2. The second way to add RSS feeds is through the Google reader website itself. On the top left side there is a link that says Add a Subscription, after clicked it will ask you to enter either the address of a feed or a topic you wish to search. After searching it will give you a bunch of options to choose from.
3. The last way is to enter the Google directory itself, there you will be given options to subscribe to.
There are a lot of advantages and disadvantages to using Google reader to follow your websites.
Advantages:
Google reader makes life a lot easier for people who have a lot of websites they visit daily, weekly, or even monthly. By using reader you can see all of your websites at the same time and see what has new updates or what does not. It saves time when you can just check the websites that you know have been updated. Without the hassle of looking through all of the websites you check daily more time can be spent on other activities. Also, with Google reader you may look for anything you are interested in, if you want to know interesting recipes all you have to do is search recipes and subscribe to the feeds.
Disadvantages:
It may be simpler for someone who has a lot of websites they visit, but for some people who only visit a few every week or so Google reader becomes a bit redundant. It isn't useful if you only have to look through 2 or 3 websites. Google reader can also be a bit hard to use for the inexperienced users. Some people might not be used to the new ideas presented by it, and thus will have a hard time understanding its functions.
Will I use it in the future:
The simple answer would be no. For me part of the fun in looking at things online is searching for them, if everything is laid out for me it takes the fun out of it. I cannot deny that it makes life much easier but its not something necessary in my life. I do not have many websites i look through anyway just about 3 every week and its not much hard work getting through them in a couple of minutes. RSS might give people more time to do other things but time isn't something that interests me too much. As long as time is kept under control we have enough.

Blog 1:
The first blog i read was titled " World of Warcraft Film Lands Saving Private Ryan", it was about an upcomming film bases on the MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) World of Warcraft by blizzard entertainment. There has been much debate weather the movie would be based on the book based on the game, or just straight based on the game. According to Sam Raimi's blog though the debate has been answered and it will be based solely on the game, the director does not know though weather the movie will follow the story of an already existing and famous fictitious character or make a completely new story surrounding a new character. The blog ends with a statement leading readers to believe that the story will be about a new character and the old ones will just be there to support the new character in the blizzard created warcraft world.
Blog 2:
The second blog I read was about martial arts, korean martial arts to be more precise. It explains how hapkido, tae kwon do, and tang soo do were all based on the same martial arts called Taekkyon. Kim joo-hyung is a taekkyon master who wants to bring the art back, it was banned from korea arround the 9th century when the japanese invaded korea. He plans to bring it back by writting a book, the book is written in english so more people can understand and doesnt just teach basics of the art but also the history behind it.
Blog 3:
The third blog i read was about the blackberry smartphone, this is something interesting to me personally as well because i own the blackberry pearl. The post is speaking about the new diccionary app. the application was made first for the I-phone but due to its increadible popularity a new blackberry version was made. The application includes arround 500,000 words to lookup as well as it reads them out. One of the key differences for the blackberry and i-phone app is that the blackberry one lets the user see definitions while they are writting emails.
Twitter:
I have used facebook for years, before that was myspace, and before that was orkut. They have always been about the same but now with the new twitter everything changes, twitter is not like facebook, but its not like blogging either, its inbetween. In twitter users can folow others which means that they will see everything the user does but the user does not see what they do. In twitter users can also follow famous people such as Angelina Jolie or other actors/actresses. Also on the right side of your homepage is a list of topics that people are talking about, but they only post about 100-150 words which is not much at all.
Blogging:
Unlike twitter blogging allows users to write as much as they want about a given subject, all they do is just name the title what the blog is about. Users can write their opinions to their hearts content about anything, but the problem is that anyone can write about anything. There is no way of knowing weather the information is true or not, there is novalidity behind what the people are saying. There are even some blogs written by tv show "characters", such as Dwight Shrewt, from the office, has a blog which he writes on, even though hes a ficticious character.
Twitter vs. Blogging
There are many instances when blogging is prefered then twitter and vice versa. If the user wishes to write his opinion about a subject then definately blogging is better because the people who will read it are interested in that subject, also the user can write as much as he wants about any given subject. Twitter is more of a social thing where users can also talk about any subject they wish, but for twitter its more like a conversation, it isnt one person who writes a page about a subject, its hundreds of users each giving theyr opinions about the given subject.
